GW’s Rocket Team, advised by MAE professor Dr. Murray Snyder, excelled in the 2019 Spaceport America Cup/International Rocket Engineering Competition. The competition was held June 18-22 in Las Cruces, NM and was hosted by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association. Student teams from 95 universities, representing 15 countries, attended and launched a total of 91 rockets in the competition, which is the world's largest and most demanding university rocket engineering competition. GW’s Rocket Team took First Place in the 10,000 ft (altitude) Student Research and Development (SRAD) Solid Booster Competition and Third Place in the Space Dynamics Lab Payload Competition. They also received the Dr. Gil Moore Award for Innovation.
