The Shape of Water

Wed, 29 March, 2023 12:00am

The GW Innovation Center is excited to invite you to see the art installation at The Kennedy Center that they and their colleagues at GW's Sustainability Institute have helped create: The Shape of Water. It opens to the public on Wednesday, March 22 in the Welcome Pavilion of The REACH.

In partnership with The Kennedy Center's International Programming department and artist-in-residence, Celia Ledón, The Shape of Water draws attention to our place as a river city and the harm that plastic pollution is causing to our waterways and the life forms that depend on clean water.  It was made from plastic waste collected over five months by students, friends and colleagues on the GW campus, in nearby creeks and rivers, The Kennedy Center and other university campuses in the DMV.  As part of the RiverRun Festival, the installation will remain on display from March 22, World Water Day, to April 22, Earth Day. Entrance is free!
