Meet Our Faculty-Archived
Over the last five years, SEAS has hired more than 40 new faculty from top ranked engineering programs here in the U.S. and internationally. They are winning prestigious national research grants, commercializing the technologies coming out of their labs, and winning national prizes.
Learn more about their research and their work with students below.
When someone like Zoe Szajnfarber tells you to reach for the stars, she means it. Her research focuses on the interdisciplinary collaboration of government space agencies, and she uses that sort of collaboration in her own work, too, from her affiliation with the world’s only space policy research institute to connecting her students with NASA. To answer the questions she’s interested in, she needs a mix of academics and real world experience, and only at SEAS is the mixture possible.
Professor Zhang's research focuses on databases and data security/privacy. His current projects include: the analytics of deep web repositories, the protection of sensitive information for web data publishing, and the protection of location privacy in mobile computing. He and his graduate student Zhuojie Zhou won the 2012 GW Business Plan competition for their data analytics system, WiseAgg.
Professor Ben-Tzvi is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He is also the director of the university's Robotics and Mechantronics Lab. His research focuses on the advanced mechanics and control of mechatronic and robotic systems, the design of intelligent autonomous systems, medical robotics, and the application of smart materials for the development of novel sensors and actuators for biomedical and miniature mechatronic and microbotic systems.
