At GW Engineering, we have a world-class faculty who are dedicated to educating our students to be the leaders of tomorrow, to creating knowledge and innovating technologies that contribute to solving society’s grand challenges, and to serving our local and global communities to make our school – and our world – a better place.

Former dean David Dolling understood this and established the SEAS Excellence Awards for Teaching and Research in 2009 to recognize and celebrate the teaching and research successes of regular SEAS faculty members.

After a 3-year pandemic hiatus we have re-started the Engineering Faculty Excellence Awards to recognize and celebrate the excellence of some of our outstanding faculty. After reviewing a set of well-deserving nominations, the selection committees have named the 2022 Engineering Faculty Excellence Awardees:

  • Outstanding Early Career Teaching Award: Gina Adam
  • Outstanding Early Career Researcher Award: Payman Dehghanian, Peng Wei
  • Distinguished Researcher Award: Volker Sorger
  • Outstanding Service Awards: Shahrokh Ahmadi, Michael Plesniak

award winners

We will present the awards to the recipients, and each awardee will give a short presentation about their teaching, research, or service.

Thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination and to the selection committees who had the very difficult task of selecting the awardees. Congratulations to our 2022 Engineering Faculty Excellence Awardees. Most of all, thank you to all of our faculty who do so much for our school, our students, and our world – day-by-day, year-after-year.
