Sarah Morin ‘21 was drawn to the School of Engineering and Applied Science after witnessing how committed faculty members were to students when she first visited campus. “The professors were knowledgeable and took an interest in their students’ success,” Morin reflects.

A senior majoring in computer science and minoring in mathematics, Morin has accepted a full-time position as a software engineer at Oracle, where will specifically be working on Oracle Cloud infrastructure. “SEAS has given me a wealth of technical knowledge and experience to prepare for my post-grad opportunities,” says Morin, who will be working in the San Francisco Bay area.

While a student, Morin was involved in both undergraduate research and the undergraduate learning assistant and teaching assistant programs, in which she participated for four semesters. For the past two years, Morin and a team of fellow undergraduate researchers have worked with Dr. Poorvi Vora to research risk-limiting audits. “Our work aims to improve election security using ballot-polling, risk-limiting audits to verify reported outcomes,” Morin explains. “As my primary responsibility, I developed a Python library capable of executing and simulating our audits.”

Morin has been recognized for her dedication to research and was named a Clare Boothe Luce scholar. “Research has taught me so much both about myself and working on long-term team projects,” she reflects. “I am so thankful I have been able to work so closely with Dr. Vora, a truly inspiring woman in CS.” Morin also received the Steve and Shelly Heller Prize in 2019 for excellence in computer science, as well as the Karlgaard Scholarship in Computer Science as a junior and senior.
