Background

Professor Evan Drumwright's POSITRONICS Lab researches methods for planning, optimization, and simulation of robotic systems (currently legged, humanoid, and mobile manipulation robots). His lab is currently investigating methods for autonomous pet care (toward the eventual application of care of elderly, child, and infirm humans), exploratory manipulation of machines (for getting robots to learn about operating mechanisms in our world), and modeling robotic contact (for high performance dynamic robot applications). Professor Drumwright's work is highly interdisciplinary, both within computer science (incorporating numerical analysis, numerical linear algebra, and optimization) and across the sciences (drawing from mathematics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biomechanics, and more).
