The School of Engineering and Applied Science’s SEAS Together Block Party was a vibrant and engaging event that aimed to bring together the GW Engineering community to celebrate its diversity and culture. The event took place on March 24th, 2023, and was co-sponsored by The Engineers’ Council, with additional support from the GW Chapters of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (oSTEM), Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE), Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and Women in Computer Science (WiCS).

The event featured a wide range of activities that catered to different interests and cultural backgrounds. Attendees were treated to delicious food from various cultures, such as Pakos Fresh Mex, Curry Trail, and Kush Mediterranean. In addition to food, the event also featured a range of fun activities, including carnival games and other activities provided by affinity organizations. One highlight of the event was the outstanding performances from various cultural groups within the GW community. GW Fuego, Philippines Cultural Society, GW Raas, and MotherFunkers delivered high-energy and engaging performances.

The Engineers’ Council presented the annual SEAS Awards, which included a variety of student and professor awards. These awards were nominated and voted on entirely by the SEAS student body. Congratulations again to all the faculty and students that won!

Overall, the SEAS Together Block Party was a great success! With more than 200 attendees from across the community, the event was a celebration of the diversity and culture within the SEAS community. The block party brought together individuals from differing backgrounds and interests to enjoy a fun-filled and engaging event. We thank everyone for coming and helping to make the event exciting and welcoming!
