Deanah McLeod

Deanah McLeod is the assistant vice president for development and alumni relations in the SEAS Office of Development and Alumni Relations. In this role she develops strategic initiatives for the school’s Development team and works closely with SEAS alumni nationally to engage them with philanthropic and volunteer initiatives throughout SEAS. Deanah’s development background includes individual fundraising; corporate, foundation, and government relations; and sponsored research.  She has worked in diverse sectors including higher education, youth development, and social service organizations.

Buthaina Shukri

In her current role, Buthaina Shukri works with alumni in the DC Metro area, the West Coast, and the Southwest interested in supporting philanthropic initiatives to support SEAS. Buthaina has an extensive career in higher education spanning leadership positions in career services, marketing, alumni relations, and development.  Before joining the SEAS Development team, she was the SEAS alumni relations officer (2012-2015), and before that the director of the GW Career Center's employer partnerships team (2007-2012). Buthaina spent 11 years at the University of Baltimore as the director of its career center and later as the law school's publications manager.

Buthaina received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and English from Union College, a master of education degree in counseling from Boston University, and a Master of Science degree in applied psychology from the University of Baltimore.  She's a PMP (Project Management Professional) and is Myers-Briggs qualified. She volunteers on behalf of her alma mater, specifically for Union's ReUnion program and field hockey and lacrosse teams.

Durriyyah Jackson

As associate director of development, Durriyyah Jackson manages a portfolio of major-gift prospects and serves as liaison to the SEAS National Advisory Council. In this role, she engages SEAS alumni in the Washington, D.C. area to facilitate volunteer engagement as well as cultivate philanthropic support for the school’s priorities. Durriyyah joined SEAS in 2011 and is a proud native Washingtonian. She received her bachelor’s degree in German Language and Literature from GW and is a certified project management professional.

Mary Harvey
Associate Director of Development

As associate director of development at SEAS, Mary Harvey manages a portfolio of major-gift prospects and donors which enables her to engage with the SEAS alumni community and cultivate potential support for the school. Mary has worked in diverse areas of non-profit fundraising, including university settings, theatres, and museums.  Before joining the SEAS team as associate director, Mary worked for six years on the Principal Gifts team in GW’s central Development office. Mary has a passion for philanthropy and enjoys working in a field that lets her connect people with their philanthropic interests.

Mary earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Mount St. Mary’s University and her Master of Arts degree in Early Modern European History from The Catholic University of America.  Graduate School brought Mary to Washington, D.C., which she has made her home for the past 10 years.

Antoinette Griffin

Antoinette Griffin is responsible for providing administrative assistance to the assistant vice president of development and serves as the primary liaison between the SEAS Development team and both internal and external contacts. Antoinette brings to her role a breadth of experience from corporate America, higher education, and the D.C. public school system.

Before coming to the George Washington University, she worked as a business support analyst for Dell Corporation, and prior to that as a budget analyst at Howard University for the Division of Allied Health Sciences’ Office of the Associate Dean.  She also worked as a donor relations coordinator within Howard University’s Division of University Advancement.  Antoinette Griffin is a native Washingtonian and received her business management degree from Southeastern University, in Washington, D.C.
