SEAS Computing Facility

We know how confusing it can be when you first come to any University. We are happy to help when we can. Please feel free to contact us for assistance.

When first coming to The George Washington University, certain steps are the first to be followed:

  1. Get your GWid — this is the combination student ID and Employee ID used by The George Washington University. The University no longer uses your SSN on most documentation.
  2. Establish a University Netid — This is your University login ID, establishes your email address, and is used as part of establishing your SEAS login ID by the SEAS Computing Facility.
  3. Pick up your GWorld card — This is your physical ID card, and is used for a number of services, as ID and as access to Tompkins and other buildings.

If you are a contractor, visiting student, or visiting professor the request must be this must be made on your behalf. The following persons should make the request:

Contractor Department Head or Chair
Visiting Student Department Advisor
Visiting Faculty Department Chair

These can be initiated on the The George Washington University help desk web site, under the account section. Your GWorld card can be picked up the at the GWorld office in the Marvin Center.

Once these are in place (they may be when you are not new to The George Washington University) you will benefit from establishing a SEAS account. For SEAS staff and faculty an account is mandatory.

In order to register for an account, you need to come to Tompkins hall and fill out an account request form. You should know your GWid, and bring your GWorld for identification.

Creation of employee or faculty accounts is contingent on verifying employment with the SEAS personnel office.
