ISSA-NOVA Scholarship Fund for Information Assurance Students

George Washington University

Purpose
To provide financial support to a student enrolled in the M.S./D.Sc. programs in Computer Science at George Washington University, with a focus on Computer Security and Information Assurance

This scholarship has been created by a generous contribution from the Information Systems Security Association-Northern Virginia Chapter (ISSA-NOVA)
Student Eligibility
Student eligibility criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
  • A GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Admission to, or current enrollment in, the M.S. or D.Sc. program in Computer Science at The George Washington University, with a focus on Computer Security and Information Assurance
  • US Citizenship and residence
  • 6 credit hour enrollment per semester in the academic year of the fellowship
At the time of application, the student must agree that his/her name may be used by ISSA and ISSA-NOVA in the promotion of the ISSA-NOVA Chapter, which may or may not include the use of his/her picture in the promotion of chapter activities. Promotional materials may be in hardcopy or electronic form to include emailed newsletters or the ISSA international and/or chapter website. The awardee will be required to become an ISSA-NOVA student member ($35 fee) and attend the September 2007 meeting to receive recognition. Please note that students with the ``security scholarships'' (SFS DoD/NSF awards) or with full financial support such as NSF Fellowships or departmental full GTA packages are not eligible.
Amount of the Award
One scholarship in the amount of $5,000 is available for the academic year 2007-2008.
Deadline
June 30, 2007. Those wishing an extension till July 6, 2007, must still submit an email message, by June 30, 2007, to poorvi AT the address gwu DOT edu, stating their intention to apply. Award will be announced by August 15, 2007.
Application Format
Applications should include the following items
  • A cover sheet with the applicant's name, email address, postal address, and phone number
  • Copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  • A statement of purpose, describing the student's career plans, and the part graduate school will play in these plans
  • Two letters of recommendation.
