Course Objective:
This is an introductory course that covers the basic issues and principles of cryptographic and network security techniques. We will cover the following topics: Security protocols and applications in local and global, wired and wireless networks including IPSec and other communication level security systems, authentication and key-exchange protocols, secure E-mail and Web, etc.
Textbook:
Stallings, Cryptography and Network Security, 5th edition. Prentice Hall, 2010.
Note: Either 4th or 5th editions would be fine for the class. If you only have the 3rd edition, please pay special attention to the additional materials available in the chapter handouts.
