Group Project

Introduction

The goal of the group project is to gain experience with working as a member of a team. Further, this project is an opportunity to practice skills needed in coping with legacy systems and existing code bases. You should expect that at some point in the semester, the instructor will move students to different teams.

Each team will be assigned existing code with requests for bug fixes and/or new feature requests. Teams will be responsible for retroactively producing several design documents for the code base, implementing the feature requests, fixing bugs, and giving a group presentation on their experiences as indicated in the course schedule.

Submission Details

By midnight on Sunday (18 January 2009) teams should send the instructor an email indicating team name, the team members and a short summary of relevent skills/work experience for each team member. Each team should designate a single member to send their group's email. Emails should contain the required information as plain text in the body of the email. Subject lines should read CSCI 161 Group Resume.

The summaries for each group member should include the following: 2-3 programming langauges with which the team member is reasonably proficient, open source projects to which the team member has contributed (if any), development tools and OSes with which the team member is reasonably proficient, and brief (1 sentence) descriptions of proprietary software they have developed (if any).
