Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health,
National Library of Medicine. Improve access to health and disaster
information in El Salvador. Currently the National Library of Medicine
(NLM) has a contract with FUNDACRID for these same activities in Nicaragua
and Honduras. Following two devastating earthquakes in January and
February 2001, NLM decided to add El Salvador to the project as an additional
task.
Proposals are due December 15, 2001. CBDNet, November 1, 2001
Plumas County Office of Emergency Services. They are seeking
the services of a consultant to provide coordination services for the Plumas
County Fire Safe Council. The focus of this project is to provide
coordination and oversight to countywide fire safe planning and education
under the auspices of the Plumas County Fire Safe Council. Services
requested include: 1) Provide administrative support to include meeting
coordination and communications in the form of newsletter and website development
and maintenance. 2) Provide educational outreach in the form of Firewise
Communities workshops to foster firewise awareness within the communities
with the long-range goal of increasing home survivbility and coordinated
hazard fuel reduction work utilizing community participation. 3) Work closely
with the State and Federal agency fire and fuel management planning staff.

City of Seattle. They are seeking to acquire a Computer Assisted
Dispatch (CAD) System to support the Seattle Fire Department operations.
The CAD system will replace an existing CAD System and will be used to
dispatch fire and medical units to 911 emergency calls, manage Fire Department
resources, provide communications between multiple resources, and manage
building premises information.

Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs. Emergency
Shelter Grants Program. Under the Emergency Shelter Grants Program
(ESGP), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has been authorized
by Congress to provide funds for the rehabilitation, renovation or conversion
of emergency shelters, for operational and essential service expenses.
The Department of Commerce and Community Affairs will be making funds available
to units of local government on behalf of not-for-profit organizations
and/or directly to private not-for-profit organizations.
Proposals are due December 3, 2001. www.commerce.state.il.us
City of Berkeley. The city will be taking proposals for a grant
in the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) Program to rehabilitate, renovate
and convert emergency shelters.
Proposals are due Wednesday, December 19, 20001. www.ci.berkeley.ca.us.
