Hurricane Planning Conferences By
Mark Clark In preparation for
the 2009 Hurricane Season, this paper
identifies a number of hurricane conferences being conducted throughout
the
hurricane-threatened regions of the The common primary
goal of these conferences is to bring
together emergency management professionals throughout the impacted
areas to
improve hurricane preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation in
order to
save lives and property within hurricane-prone regions. In addition, the
conferences serve as a national forum for federal,
state and local officials to exchange ideas and recommend new policies
to
improve Emergency Management. Many of the
conference participants in attendance come
from the hurricane prone
regions, and will be looking for products and services that will help
them
better prepare, respond and recovery from a hurricane event. The
conference sponsors include engineering firms, contractors,
manufacturers,
suppliers, health care, insurance, public awareness, private and non
profit, logistical
and numerous other type firms that will be presenting their displays
and
capabilities,
and include the latest technologies and tools available. The Hurricane Conferences
