Review of Contingency Planning and Management Magazine

     Contingency Planning and Management (CPM) magazine is an electronic periodical that strives to provide relevant information to industry professionals interested in Business Continuity Practices.  In addition to two electronic newsletters, CPM offers a monthly print newsletter that can be subscribed to for an annual fee of $195.  CPM is advertised as being a single source for industry professionals concerned with business continuity practices, security, emergency management and risk management.  A review of available material on the CPM website gives an impression of a definite information technology (IT) focus in these areas.

     The CPM monthly newsletter; CPM Global Assurance; is a monthly print newsletter to aid subscribers in developing strategic direction for their companies in the areas of business continuity, security, emergency management and risk management.  The editors of the newsletter reinforce the concept of operations assurance, which advocates a closer relationship in these areas and other critical activities, all under the umbrella of good corporate governance.  Goals of the publishers of CPM Global are to provide its readers with:

     As a compliment to the CPM Global print newsletter are two e-newsletters, "The CPM Features" and "CPM Industry Insider."  The CPM Features e-newsletter highlights articles from the editors of CPM Global Assurance and identifies the month's most critical issues.  The CPM Industry Insider provides business continuity professional, security, and emergency management professionals with updates regarding industry events, professional placements, and important happenings.

     CPM web site maintains web portals that are links to specific areas of interest to individuals focused on business continuity practices.  The portal system is designed so that the transportation sub-portal is a stand-alone source for news and analysis on BCP within the Transportation Industry.  In addition, CPM is striving to create two additional sub-portals: one that will focus on the healthcare field and a second that will focus on finance and banking news, analysis and information that can be used to support BCP decisions required to protect industry infrastructure and data.

    To further its goal of being a single source for industry professional concerned with business continuity practices, CPM sponsors two conferences that are advertised as focused on the latest news, trends, and innovations in business continuity, security and emergency management. Although the print newsletter, CPM Global, is a paid subscription, the CPM website provides many sources on BCP at no cost.
