Everything you need is in Chapters 1-3; you need not, and should not, use any "extra" statements or anything from later chapters.
Background: Eleven Western European countries (France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, etc.) are changing to a single currency (money), the Euro. Euro banknotes and coins will appear in 2002, but currently it is possible to write checks and do credit-card transactions in Euros. The exchange rate between Euros and dollars varies from day to day.
Problem: You're planning a summer trip to Europe and plan to rent a car. You'll pay for most of your purchases, including fuel, with a credit card, so you'll use the Euro prices for those. Europe is on the metric system, so fuel is priced in Euros per liter. Since you don't have a good feel for this pricing, you'd like to know the fuel price in dollars per gallon. Since you'll be traveling with a laptop computer, you decide to develop a program that will help you in your travels. Given the daily Euro exchange rate, the number of liters you're buying, and the price in Euros per liter, this program will tell you the number of gallons you're buying, the price in dollars per gallon, and the total dollar price.
Project: Develop a full Case Study to solve this problem. You'll need to find out the liters-to-gallon conversion, and daily Euro rate on the day you run the program. In your Case Study, be sure to cite the sources you use to find out this information.
What to submit: See the document Preparation and Grading of Programming Projects for details.
