CAHL Director

  • Prof. Chunlei Charles Liang

  • Professor Liang is an Assistant Professor of Engineering and Applied Science. He is also an Assistant Professor of Mathematics by a courtesy appointment.
  • Professor Liang received his Ph.D. from the University of London in 2005 advised by Dr. George Papadakis and Prof. Michael Yianneskis . Prior to joining GW, he conducted three years postdoctoral research at Stanford University under the directions of Professor Antony Jameson and Professor Parviz Moin.
  • Dr. Liang is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a board member of Computers and Fluids, an Elsevier journal.
  • The research interests of Dr. Liang include development of numerical solvers on unstructured grids for both incompressible and compressible flows and simulations of real-world challenging fluid flow problems through massively parallel computing.
  • Professor Liang earned degrees including a Bachelor of Engineering and a Minor of English from Xi'an Jiaotong University at the age of 20. He began learning numerical methods from Prof. Wenquan Tao.
  • For graduate school education, Dr. Liang studied and lived in Hong Kong and London where he also became a fan of both snooker and soccer. Outside work, he enjoys spending time with Jason and Kevin, and playing Table Tennis.
