Welcome to the SEAS website. I hope these pages can convey a small part of the excitement and energy within the School of Engineering and Applied Science. The transformation that is underway here is nothing less than remarkable, as we grow the undergraduate student body and faculty, enhance educational opportunities for students in the classrooms and laboratories, expand internships throughout the DC area and beyond, and build more international partnerships for study abroad.
Additionally, we are greatly expanding our research capabilities and support in several areas that have potential to improve the richness and quality of life for people throughout the world. Much of this work is described in the departmental pages in other parts of the SEAS website.
And, plans are well underway for construction of the new science and engineering complex, a facility that will house, support and promote engineering and the sciences in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. We will be sharing more on this very exciting project in the weeks and months just ahead.
The success of our effort, of course, depends on the participation and engagement of many, and we are actively reaching out to alumni, parents, corporate partners, friends and others who would like to play a part. Financial support is vital as we seek to increase need and merit-based aid for students; departmental support for faculty, graduate fellowships, visiting scholars and equipment; endowments to support faculty; and funds for the new building. If you are interested in having a conversation to explore the opportunities and ways of giving, we would be very pleased to visit.
However, financial support is just one way of being a part of the SEAS transformation. Whether your support is in the form of being an admissions volunteer, talking with students, hosting a group of alumni in your city, leading an alumni event or participating on a panel discussion, I am certain that we can find a way to get you involved. Whatever it is, we do hope you will choose to... Be a Part of It!
Thank you...we hope to talk with you soon!
