At a special dinner and ceremony on November 9, 2006, SEAS inducted its inaugural group of alumni into the new GW Engineering Hall of Fame. SEAS established the hall of fame this year to recognize alumni, faculty, staff, and friends who have made sustained and meritorious contributions to engineering, technology and/or management during their careers. These individuals bring distinction to GW through their significant achievements and contributions to their professions, the University, and society-at-large.
More than 90 alumni and friends attended the dinner on November 9th at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, DC to honor the new inductees. The evening began with a cocktail social hour and a toast given by SEAS alumnus Lou Wagman, followed by the dinner. SEAS National Advisory Council chairman, Scott Amey, made opening remarks at the ceremony, and Dean Tong addressed those present and thanked them for their commitments to SEAS. The induction of the nine alumni to the GW Engineering Hall of Fame followed.
SEAS is eager to receive nominations of individuals to be considered for future induction. Alumni who would like to nominate a fellow alumnus/a to the Hall of Fame, should send the nominee's name and qualifications to:

SEAS Alumna Brings Google to GW for Tech Talk!
One of Dean Tong's goals for SEAS is to provide internships for any undergraduate students who want them, and our engineering alumni have been helping the SEAS Career Services Office pave the way toward this goal.
Thanks to SEAS alumna Zuri Kemp, BA'04 (computer science), more than 150 GW students had the chance to meet with Google representatives on November 2nd of this year. Kemp arranged to bring the New York Google team to SEAS to recruit students for internships and full time employment.
Undergraduate and graduate students from SEAS-as well as some from the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, the Elliott School of International Affairs, and the GW School of Business-attended the event. Google provided pizza and sodas for all attendees, and also sponsored a raffle to give away free Google items, including T-shirts for all participants in the information sessions.
Google's "tech talk" featured innovative pricing schemes for advertising on its site that maximizes client investment. The Google representatives also discussed the wide variety of full-time and summer intern opportunities and how to apply for them, and they held a question and answer session that centered on their workdays, job assignments, and other related topics of interest to the students.
Additional on-campus information sessions have been scheduled with Sprint/Nextel, Hughes Network Systems, the Nuclear Energy Institute, and Proteus. Information sessions are a great way to get the word out about your company to our students and potentially to recruit engineering students for internships and/or full time employment. Anyone interested in doing an information session for GW engineering students should contact Scott Amey, SEAS Director of Career Services at amey@gwu.edu or 202-994-7892.
